Frequently Asked Questions About the
Teacher Academy
|
The Teacher Academy is an exciting professional development
opportunity for select novice educators from across the state of
Georgia. It requires a two year commitment from the educator and
school district. Educators must be employed and fully certified by
the State of Georgia.
Participants for the Academy can self nominate and must be
approved by their principal, their superintendent and undergo a
rigorous selection process. Applications are accepted ONLY
between January and May of each year. See

No. The Teacher Academy is not a vehicle for soliciting
membership. Any novice educator, who is fully certified and employed
by a Georgia school district, is eligible to apply.
A novice is any educator who has less than four years of
experience upon entering the Teacher Academy. It is recommended that
the participant have two to four years of service. First year
teachers will be considered but it should be noted that the Teacher
Academy curriculum is rigorous and participants are expected to
implement strategies through assignments given in each session.
No. There are no costs for the participant or the
school districts. PAGE pays for the participant’s substitute
teacher, meals, mileage to the sessions, lodging and provides a
stipend.
